What about Tarps?

Tarps are great if you want something more versatile than a bag and lighter than a tent. A tarp can be rigged as a rain shelter or a sun shelter, it can be pitched low, to keep out the wind, or high and airy so you know you are really in the outdoors, it can be used as a groundsheet for an impromptu lunch and siesta or a cape if it rains. Sometimes a fly sheet makes a good tarp.
