Why take a Bivvy bag?
Bivvy bags weigh next to nothing and carried with a lightweight sleeping bag free you from worries about accommodation giving you the confidence to be more adventurous, make longer detours and see more.
Bivvy bags are more discreet than tents making them great for wild camping hikes. Do read the Bivvy Bag techniques for help and camping tips.
Bivvy bags, unlike a tent can be rolled out almost anywhere, the deck of a Greek island ferry, a ledge halfway up a mountain where you know there will be a once in a lifetime sunrise, a patch of grass while you wait for the morning train or a thick ancient forest.

The Advanced Bivy Sack from Outdoor Research
The Advanced Bivy Sack from Outdoor Research is light, compact, and quick to set up, while offering full-featured weather protection for solo travelers. The Advanced has a two pole system which adds more support to the fabric so that it is not laying on top of your body. This ultimately means it is more comfortable and easier to get in and out of.
The Advanced Bivy uses Gore-Tex Respiration Positive fabric. This is a waterproof and breathable laminate developed specifically for use in bivy sacks. Unlike other fabrics in bivy sack construction, it allows the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen for improved respiration.
